Emergency GP
Appointments

  1. Emergencies at nights (6.00pm - 8.00am) and weekends:

Out of hours services are co-ordinated by NHS 24. In the event of an emergency that cannot wait until surgery opening, call 111  (Text phone users  18001 111). You will be advised by a medically qualified NHS 24 team member, and if necessary, an appointment with a GP arranged at the local out-of-hours centre based at the Vale of Leven Hospital. A home visit may be offered if you are too ill to attend the centre. You must telephone before attending the centre.

A minor injuries service is available at all hours based at the Vale of Leven Hospital, dealing with simple strains, sprains, cuts, burns etc. This is staffed by experienced nursing staff but is not a casualty department. Major injuries are dealt with at the accident and emergency department at the Royal Alexandra Hospital, Paisley.

  2. Routine GP appointments

Appointments are bookable 16 days in advance from the start of each week, with new routine appointments for all partners released on a rolling template every Monday from 10am.

The practice's branch surgery at Luss operates on most Wednesdays from 4:00-5:15pm. Call the main number to book an appointment.

  3. Nurse/Phlebotomy appointments

The practice nursing team have wide experience in all aspects of nursing care and special skills in many areas such as asthma, diabetes, heart disease etc. You can see the nurses by appointment. Please be aware the reception may ask the reason for your appointment – this is to direct your appointment to the correct clinician as the nurses/phlebotomists each have different skills.

  4. Emergency GP appointments

There is a doctor on call every morning between 8am and 12pm who will deal with urgent telephone enquiries and house call requests.  If all available appointments have been used, the on call doctor will speak to you and assess the urgency of your condition.  An emergency appointment will be offered on the same day if necessary, though this might not be with your usual doctor.

Surgery opening hours are:

Monday-Friday 8:30am-6:00pm

Emergency care also provided  from 8:00-8:30am
HOME VISITS

Patients who are unable to attend the surgery with an urgent problem and require the doctor to visit should phone 01389 752626 before 10.00am where possible.

Our receptionists will take details of your request and pass them to the emergency doctor or practice nurse who will make an initial assessment of your request. Please give as much information as you can.

Appointments

Consultations are by appointment only by telephoning the main number. Appointments are always in high demand so please be prepared to wait up to two weeks if you require a routine appointment with a specific doctor.  GP partner availability can be viewed here.

It is extremely important that you tell us if your appointment is no longer required so that it can be given to another patient.  Patients who persistently fail to attend for appointments may have their registration reviewed which could ultimately lead to removal from the practice list.

EXTENDED HOURS
The surgery offers a limited number of appointments after 6pm, by appointment only, on alternate Mondays and Tuesdays for patients who are unable to attend during normal working hours.

Please note we cannot guarantee you a particular named GP on these evening appointments and there is no nurse provision so you will be required to attend during working hours if you require further investigations such as blood testing.
